China grabbed 27 percent of the 158 million global smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2012, compared to 16 percent in the U.S., according to Canalys.
That's an increase of 32 percent over the previous quarter and 199 percent from the previous year. In total, China received shipments of 42 million smartphones during the quarter for its second consecutive quarter of record-breaking volumes, the analyst firm said.
